DISPLAY GARDENS
We invite you to walk the paths of our display gardens to see the mature size of the perennials we sell in the nursery, to discover new perennials, and to get plant combination ideas.
Gardens are always changing, so visit often and see the succession of flowers. Our display gardens have examples of sun and shade, wet and dry conditions.
Woodland Garden in Spring
Hellebores (Helleborus FVFF) are among the first flowers to greet us in the spring at the Falls Village Flower Farm.
Woodland Garden in Spring
Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica) and Old-Fashioned Bleeding Hearts (Lamprocapnos spectabilis) and Epimedium ‘Sulphurum’ make a charming combination in spring.
Sunny Garden in Spring
Irises (Iris ensata ‘Dark Purple’) and Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla ‘Auslese’) are another beautiful pair in the spring garden.
Woodland Garden in Summer
Oakleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Snow Queen’) and Hakonechloa (Hakonechloa ‘Aureola’) provide year round interest in the display gardens.
Woodland Garden in Summer
In this corner of a display garden here you see just how big Astilboides tabularis can grow! Astilboides tabularis likes part shade, rich soil & cool, moist conditions.
Sunny Garden in Summer
The wisteria (Wisteria macrostachys ‘Aunt Dee’) near the bocci court took three years to reach it’s mature size, shown here. It now shades the patio.
Woodland Edge in Summer
Geranium Rozanne is a hardy geranium and was named Perennial Plant of the Year in 2008 by the Perennial Plant Association. Plants become lush and full when in partial shade.
Woodland Edge in Early Fall
Anemone ‘Andrea Atkinson’ is a long blooming plant in late summer into the fall here.
Shade Garden in Fall
Cornus Kousa and Hosta ‘Sum and Substance’ are an eye-catching pair in the fall time here.
Winter Garden
As leaves drop and winter approaches, Oakleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Snow Queen’ ) reveals exfoliating, cinnamon-brown bark. The peeling bark stands out against the snow in the winter garden.
Winter Garden
If you design a garden with good bone structure and a variety of plants, you will especially enjoy the winter season.
